Showing Related Entities on a Form in CRM 2011

Frequently, businesses want to see 1-N and N-N entities displayed on related forms.  In CRM 4, this required custom coding with an i-frame, but CRM 2011 provides this functionality thru out of the box configuration. 

The steps below will walk you through adding a 1-N or N-N entity using the Sub-Grid customization.

  1. Open the main form for the target Entity
  2. Click the "Insert" menu item
  3. Click the "Sub-Grid" button


     
  4. Enter a unique Name for the Sub-Grid
  5. Select the related Entity to show in the Sub-Grid
  6. Click "OK"


     
  7. Save the form
  8. Publish the form
     

With this customization, you can also add new items to the sub entity directly when the Sub-Grid is selected.
